1) Come see Fiddler this weekend (review credit!)
Fiddler on the Roof continues this weekend - and because it's an 'all professional' pit orchestra including a professional violinist it will work as a concert for review. Shows are Friday March 9 at 7pm and Saturday March 10 at 2pm and again at 7pm. Hope to see you!

2) Fruit/Pie pickup in tomorrow - Friday!
If you ordered Willamette Valley Fruit Company pies or frozen fruit please come pick up your orders between 4:30 and 6pm in the orchestra room. Thank you Melissa Canfield and Karen Tatman for offering your help for this fundraiser pickup!

3) Congrats to CJ - District IV viola champ
Our very own principal violist, CJ, won the District IV Viola division this past weekend. She will compete with other district winners on Saturday April 28 at Lewis and Clark College in Portland. Congrats CJ! Congrats too to all the Chamber students who competed solos and ensembles.

4) Winter at West video available
Thanks to one of our parents, we have a beautifully produced DVD of Winter at West 2011 available to students' families for only $10. Students can get order forms from Ms. S - $10 is due with the form. The DVD's are at school - so all you need to do is bring $10 and the DVD is yours!

5) Chamber retreat - quick info
Chamber parents and students have a meeting tonight (Thursday) which will give all the details of the trip, but for parents and students of the other groups, I thought I would give you a little run down on the Chamber retreat. We're going to be working many hours a day on our District and State orchestra competition repertoire - some Elgar, Bloch, Mozart, Kajanus, and more. We will be staying in Newport Beach at a retreat facility that used to be the home of composer Ernest Bloch - one of the composers of a work we're currently playing. When he passed away 60 years ago, his home was eventually purchased by Salem First Baptist church that now runs it as a retreat facility. We will also be playing at the Newport First Presbyterian Church. Thanks to our wonderful trip committee for helping to plan this great retreat weekend.
