Boot Camp Wednesday

Boot Camp Wednesday - we're having fun now! Today we worked Addam's Family theme song and Van Halen's Jump in Large Group. Then we were treated to the wonderful musicianship of Blanca and Chuchi playing Castilian traditional folk music. I did video record some of their performances - look for that on our YouTube channel soon.

Ok, here's the 'secret' message for Thursday... anyone wearing Orange anywhere (visible) - including fingernail polish, socks, or jewelry - gets chocolate on Thursday during break. (Hey - don't pass this message on... make your friends read the blog in order to get the secret message)

Once again, if you owe paperwork, waiver, or payment for Boot Camp, please bring that in tomorrow.

See you Thursday!

Boot Camp 2012 - Monday and Tuesday

Happy 2012-2013 Titan Orchestra season! This year's Boot Camp is under way! Here's a recap:

Monday - Chamber Orchestra 6 hour intensive day. We warmed up, sight read, and bonded. It was great to play "The Name Game" where we each made up signs for our name, just to get to know each other better. We worked on Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, and Bernstein's "America". It was a great day together - it's going to be a dynamic group this year!

Tuesday - First full day of Boot Camp. A record-breaking 60+ students came to Boot Camp today. The Large Group gathering this morning featured Happy Birthday (melody and harmony... solfege too!) and Van Halen's "Jump". Then we were treated to our guest artists of the day - Noah Seitz on cello and John Livingston on piano. They played a Frank Bridge cello sonata and a cool Tango by Astor Piazzolla. Their music was so beautiful - and I am happy to report that the Boot Camp audience was the quietest I've ever seen them! After the performance, it was 'rehearsal' time. Chamber worked for an hour on their own, and then an hour with me. Sinfonietta and String Orchestra combined forces to work on "The Adventures of Stringman". All-in-all it was a highly successful first mass Boot Camp day!

Preview of tomorrow - check out this video of Chuchi and Blanca busking on the streets of Segovia, Spain. They'll be at West tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10am.
