Links for Symphony

Hi all you Advanced Symphony folks. Here are a bunch of great links to help you with your excerpt assignment/audition for next Tuesday.

Schubert:

Wikipedia info on Unfinished symphony (Schubert)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphony_No._8_(Schubert)

If you scroll down on that page, there is a way to hear the music from free - you have to download a file that allows you to play an 'ogg' file. Or, read on...

Here's a page that allows you to listen to the whole first movement for free (Scroll down to Schubert Symphony #8 First Movement)
http://www.symphonysiliconvalley.org/concerts.php?pagecontID=9#

And, here's a little "unfinished" humor...
http://www.artkitchen.com/Humor/Schubert.html

And now for Act III Prelude to Lohengrin (Wagner) - did you know that this was used in the Lemony Snicket movie??

Here's the Wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lohengrin_(opera)

And, here's Arturo Toscanini conducting the Prelude (this is awesome!!!):

And, now the Oahu Civic Orchestra playing it (not quite as cool as Toscanini):

And, this would be a great track to pick up for a buck on iTunes. Happy practicing!
