Boot Camp 2012 - Monday and Tuesday

Happy 2012-2013 Titan Orchestra season! This year's Boot Camp is under way! Here's a recap:

Monday - Chamber Orchestra 6 hour intensive day. We warmed up, sight read, and bonded. It was great to play "The Name Game" where we each made up signs for our name, just to get to know each other better. We worked on Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, and Bernstein's "America". It was a great day together - it's going to be a dynamic group this year!

Tuesday - First full day of Boot Camp. A record-breaking 60+ students came to Boot Camp today. The Large Group gathering this morning featured Happy Birthday (melody and harmony... solfege too!) and Van Halen's "Jump". Then we were treated to our guest artists of the day - Noah Seitz on cello and John Livingston on piano. They played a Frank Bridge cello sonata and a cool Tango by Astor Piazzolla. Their music was so beautiful - and I am happy to report that the Boot Camp audience was the quietest I've ever seen them! After the performance, it was 'rehearsal' time. Chamber worked for an hour on their own, and then an hour with me. Sinfonietta and String Orchestra combined forces to work on "The Adventures of Stringman". All-in-all it was a highly successful first mass Boot Camp day!

Preview of tomorrow - check out this video of Chuchi and Blanca busking on the streets of Segovia, Spain. They'll be at West tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10am.
