1) Entertainment Books fundraiser ends MONDAY!
The Entertainment Book fundraiser ends this next Monday - Oct. 1. All students who have checked out books must either return the books (in excellent condition) or bring checks/money for the books they received. Monday Ms. Silberman will check in books - students can put money in Entertainment Book envelopes in the Grey Box (make sure student name is on the envelope!!!!!!). Thank you Korrin Van deWalker for coordinating this fundraiser!

2) Chamber at Saturday Market (Sat. 3:15pm) and West Side Story (Sat. 7pm)
Chamber Orchestra is on retreat from 3:30pm Friday until 10pm Saturday. We will be performing at the Salem Saturday Market in downtown Salem on Saturday at 2:15 - parents and everyone else in the Titan Orchestra program are welcome to see Chamber perform - should be a lovely day to play at the Market! Also, as the final event of our 2 day retreat, Chamber will be watching the classic movie West Side Story in the Auditorium at West at 7pm on Saturday - everyone is welcome!

3) Did you register to win a CodaBow yet?
I sent home an email last week with information on how parents (or anyone over 18) can register to win a free CodaBow for home and it comes with a companion bow for school too. Imagine if we had 85 entries - maybe we'd win!!!! Parents - please follow this link to register to win: http://www.codabow.com/giveaway/giveaway_registration.html

4)  Fair Use Fee is due Friday - waivers available
The Fair Use Fee is due now - $40 for String Orchestra and Sinfonietta students not going on the Big Trip or in Symphony. $90 for those in Symphony and those going on the Big Trip. Please make checks out to Titan Music Boosters with a note in the memo line saying Fair Use Fee.

If you wish to apply a waiver to your fee, please pick one up in the orchestra room or follow this link:

5) Big Trip scholarship application available Monday
We are tweaking the scholarship application for the Big Trip - it will be available either Friday or Monday and will be due by Oct. 5. We will try to make the scholarship award decision in a few days. Thank you for your patience. Keep in mind that scholarship awards will be awarded by a committee that will look at need base, annonymously (students will only be identified by grade level). Scholarships award amounts will be 20-60% of costs, based on student need, commitment level, and student fundraising pledge. The first payment for the Big Trip will be due on Oct. 11 - student accounts will be updated by then (with Entertainment Book and concession money).

6) Pacific Lutheran Faculty String Quartet visit
We are so lucky - the Regency Faculty String Quartet from Pacific Lutheran University will be on tour this next Tuesday. All members of the orchestra will get to meet the faculty members, hear them play, and work a little with them. They are coming to us free of cost! We met the violin instructor, Professor Svenn Ronning, a few years ago and he was dynamic!

7) Check out this video... (Waltz time!)
It's just about Waltz time - our biennual Waltz Night will be happening on Saturday October 20. To get you in the mood, here is Andre Rieu with the Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz... enjoy!
