Salem Chamber Orchestra house concerts this summer

Orchestra to fill local homes for summer recitals

During July and August the Salem Chamber Orchestra will present the Chamber Music Festival, "Summer Soirées." This series of chamber music recitals will feature SCO musicians intimately performing chamber music, as well as showings of original watercolors by artist Sam Rouslin.

The schedule is as follows:

-7:30 p.m. July 9: Katherine McLin, violinist, and Andrew Campbell, pianist; Villa Bacca Collina, home of Jack and Pam Scott. The McLin/Campbell Duo appears on recital series throughout the United States. They will play works by Copland, Ives, and de Falla.

-4 p.m. July 26: Chamber Sailors, home of Carole Orloff. Violinist Cathy Heithaus, cellist Jenny Gleason, and pianist Carole Orloff. Heithaus and Gleason are orchestra members and Orloff was executive director 2002-2004.

-7:30 p.m. Aug. 5: SCO Chamber Ensemble — Schubert Octet; home of Richard and Carolyn Harcourt. One of the most popular works in the chamber music repertoire will be performed by Dan Rouslin, Cathy Heithaus, Abigail Stoughton, Jenny Gleason, Whitney Moulton, Nicoleen Willson, Helena Kopchick and Mike Hettwer.

-7:30 p.m. Aug. 19: Salem Baroque; Gaiety Hill House, home of Tom Anderson and Jessica Maxwell. French baroque works performed by violinists Danny Seidenberg and Daryl Silberman, cellist Georgienne Young, and harpsichordist Susan Miller.

-4 p.m. Aug. 23: SCO Brass in the Garden; home of Susan Miller. Musicians Brett Randolph and Scott Gerweck, trumpets, Mike Hettwer, horn, Matthew Hettwer, trombone, and Phil Rundquist, tuba.

-7:30 p.m. Aug. 26: "Beethoven in G" featuring Ian Scarfe, pianist, and Dan Rouslin, violinist; home of Richard and Carolyn Harcourt. A 2005 graduate of Willamette University, guest pianist Scarfe will play a reduced version of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4. The program will also include Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 10 in G Major featuring SCO concert master Dan Rouslin.
